We focus on two areas: musculoskeletal adaptation and bone biomechanics. Our overall goal is to improve musculoskeletal health by understanding and treating diseases such as osteoporosis and osteoarthritisIn musculoskeletal mechanobiology we are interested to understand how bone, cartilage and other joint tissues adapt to the mechanical loading they experience in vivo. In the bone biomechanics area we are interested in the factors that determine bone strength and the relationship of whole bone strength to composition and structure of bone tissue at the micro- and nanoscale.
